Summary A successful author, Beatrice Lynn, travels into the wilds of northern Australia to investigate the story of an Aboriginal tribe ruled by a white king, Mara. On route she is kidnapped by an Afghan trader who sells her to Mara. After various adventures involving opium smuggling Beatrice grows to love Mara and decides to stay with him. This film with its network of sub-plots was an attempt by Chauvel to break into the American market.
