Writer/director Aven S. Noah (general manager of the Torres Strait Islanders Media Association) charts the growing tensions between his people on Murray Island (called Mer by its inhabitants) and outside fishing interests over ocean resources that Murray Islanders believe belong to them. He explores the Islanders' economic and spiritual relationship to the sea, tracing the unbroken link from ancient stone-walled fish traps to modern island-based fishing businesses that offer a real alternative to welfare dependency.
