Web Catalogue  -  Patron Features

When you log in to the web catalogue, you have access to the following features.

Logged in web catalogue session

After you have logged in to your Patron Record, the catalogue remembers who you are until you press the Log out button. A message at the top of each screen tells you "you are logged in..."

It is not necessary to re-enter your name & barcode e.g. if placing several holds etc.

You can return to your Patron Record display at any time by pressing the Patron Record button which is found on most screens.

Cookies are required to enter a web catalogue session - ensure you have your browser set up correctly.

On completion of your catalogue session ensure you click the  Log Out  button which is found on most screens.

Search the catalogue

Once you have logged in to your Patron Record, click Search the Catalogue to carry out searching, exporting, placing requests (holds), etc.

Current Checkouts

Your Patron Record tells you what items are currently checked out to you.

You can renew items yourself. 


Current Requests (Holds)

Your Patron Record shows you what holds (requests) you currently have, whether these are ready for pickup and at which location.

You can cancel holds no longer required.


Current fines

Your Patron Record shows what fines you have currently incurred.


Preferred Searches

Staff and students from the University and affiliated institutions can save up to five Preferred Searches.

Once you have logged into the web catalogue, you can save your search strategy by clicking the Save Search button.

Preferred Searches can be viewed, launched, and deleted from your Patron Record.

If you have the maximum number of searches saved, the Save Search button is not displayed in your web catalogue session until you remove some of your Preferred Searches.

New title email alerts

Staff and students from the University and affiliated institutions can set up new title email alerts (a maximum of five applies).

These alerts will send you information on new titles matching your Preferred Searches. To activate these -

  • log in to your Patron Record
  • view your Preferred Searches
  • tick the searches for which you wish to receive alerts
  • click Update List

Alerts are automatically sent to the email address in your Patron Record every Monday morning.

When you no longer wish to receive alerts tick the searches for removal and click Update List.
