Notes "Les amours d'Abailard et Héloïse" is by Jacques Alluis; "Les lettres galantes de Cleante et Belise", by Anne Ferrand.
"Les lettres d'une religieuse portugaise" consists of the letters formerly attributed to M. Alcoforado and now ascribed to Guilleragues, preceded by the seven letters written in imitation of them, each letter except the last being followed by an answer.
Local note SpC/BX copy has teh armorial bookplate of "R.N."
SpC/BX copy has the inscription: "R. Bowles No.10"
