Summary A story about the meeting of the allied forces of the Soviet Army and the US Army on the River Elbe in Germany on 25th April 1945. The film focuses on the friendship between a Soviet Commandant and an American Commandant, and the relationship between the Soviet Commandant and a German engineer. It also portrays the activities of ex-Nazi black marketers and the camaraderie between Russian and American soldiers, and provides an interesting comparison of the American and Soviet occupation zones.
