Summary Report of a think tank sponsored by the Victorian Centre for Climate Change Adaptation Research and the Bureau of Meteorology, and held on Friday 13 July 2012 at Melbourne Business Scool, Carlton, Victoria. This think tank brought together 36 participants from the Bureau of Meteorology, Victorian State Government departments, local government, research and academic institutions and industry users of climate information. The three goals were to: 1. assess the current situation on climate information and adaptation; 2. build a greater common understanding of the expectations of climate information users and the capacity of information providers in providing information for adaption to climate change; and 3. provide recommendations for policy and guidance for research on improved climate services in a changing climate. In adapting to climate change, effective provision of climate services requires presenting information relevant to long-term planning and early warning of significant climate risks. Case studies on agriculture, bushfire and flood are presented.
