Summary Alex Kurzem was a five year old Russian orphan in World War Two who was found by Latvian soldiers and made their mascot being given an new name and birthdate. In reality, he was a Jew, kept alive by the enemy. He became a poster boy for the Nazi ideal and was taken in by a Latvian family who later migrated to Australia. With his son Mark Kurzem, a filmmaker, he went to Europe in search of his true identity.
