The manuscripts consist of the papers and letters of Lord Grenville, including correspondence with the Marquis of Buckingham and Thomas Grenville, his brothers, Pitt, Fox, Henry Dundas, Lord Auckland, Earl Grey and other statesmen. Vol. 1 contains also the correspondence of Thomas Pitt, governor of Madras for the East India company, of his son Robert and of his granddaughter Anne.
