Notes Collection of photocopies from newspapers (including the "Argus" and "Sun") from the Scrapbook of Maude Glover-Fleay.
Notes provided on donation by Mrs Beasy, Queensland - daughter of Maude Glover-Fleay. [Note: also spelt Beasey on the wrappings the donation arrived in. Also there was a Myer label on the packaging (recycled to wrap donation in) that is addressed to a Mr Beardsley, 19 Bates Street, East Malvern. Names are very similar.]

History notes Names used: Maude Glover. Also known as Maude Glover-Fleay Attended the National Gallery School and studied in the Drawing School in 1891-92. She was a noted wildlife artist. A Bursary was established in 1992 in memory of Maude Glover to award a bursary annually to a a high-ranking first year Painting student in the discipline of Art at the Faculty. Glover-Fleay was one of Australia's first wildlife artist. She studied for around two years under Fredrick McCubbin at the Drawing School, National Gallery of Victoria. The Victorian College of the Arts etstablished a Maude Glover - Fleay Award to honour her contribution to Australia's natural history.
Provenance: Donated by Mrs Beasy of Queensland - daughter of Maude Glover-Fleay. No date provided for donation. Pre 2005. Possibly donated in 1974 when it was noted in the University of Melbourne Statutes that “On 6 November 1974, the Victorian College of the Arts...received $4,000 from Mrs Mary Beasy to establish a fund to support a bursary... in memory of her late mother...” Torn wrapping had hand written note: Donated by “Mrs Beasy, Queensland - daughter of Maude Glover-Fleay” .
