Summary The material is presented chronologically so as to put into perspective the major historical events which have shaped Australia's lifestyle and attitudes and to give reasons for their occurrences rather than to treat them in isolation. Part 1 includes the first Australians, early exploration, European settlement, the gold rush, the Eureka stockade, bushrangers, living and working conditions prior to 1900, Federation, the White Australia policy and World War I. Part 2 includes the Great Depression, the stolen generation, World War II and events right up to the 2000 Olympics, early 20th century footage, re-creations of major events and a graphic time-line.
