Summary Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, returns home following the death of her husband, the King of France. From the moment she reclaims her throne, Queen Elizabeth of England seeks to oust her, fearful Mary will one day have a son who will ultimately rule both kingdoms. Aided by Mary's deceitful, bastard half-brother James, Elizabeth arranges an ill-fated marriage between Mary and a vain nobleman loyal to England. Mary and Elizabeth's undaunted quests for power leave a trail of deception, murder and war.
