The Passionate pilgrim was originally published in 1599 by William Jaggard, who ascribed the authorship to Shakespeare. Only 5 of the poems are known to be by Shakespeare ; the authorship of the remaining poems is unknown -- cf. A Shakespeare encyclopaedia / ed. by O.J. Campbell & L.G. Quin.
