Summary "In May 2006 in Paris, Jaques Chirac opened the world's first museum to acknowledge the inherent artistic value of indigenous art works. For the first time what used to be referred to as primitive art, works found mostly until now in dusty natural history museums, have been given an ultra modern home in the Musee du Quai Branly, on the Seine adjacent to the Eiffel Tower. The first episode, Farewell Primitive, traces the evolution of western attitudes to non-western Indigenous cultures and Indigenous art. The second episode details the inspiration behind the Paris project. The Musee du Quai Branly's design was heavily influenced by architect Jean Nouvel's visits to Aboriginal Australia and key to the design was an interactive process of curating the work of eight individual artists from remote WA, Arnhem Land and suburban east coast cities."--edited from Enhance TV website.
