Summary The Djarn Djarns: Frankie Dollar is eleven years old. He is the leader of an Aboriginal traditional dance group, the Djarn Djarns Dancers. The Djarn Djarns operate from Australia's largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural centre, the Dreamtime Cultural Centre in Rockhampton. They are young urban blackfellas, with a responsibility to keep their culture alive. Today is the first year anniversary of Frankie's father's death. It is a busy day at Dreamtime, with lots of tourists who the Djarn Djarns must perform for. Frankie is the strength of this dance group, but today he is weak, his mind is elsewhere. The Djarnies are a unit of loyalty and friendship, and today, especially more than any other, Frankie Dollar needs their support. The Djarn Djarns is the story of friendship between four young men, the responsibility they feel for their culture and the love a young boy has for his father. -- DVD back cover.
Plains empty: A young Aboriginal woman has recently moved to an isolated mining town with her man. When he has to set up camp at a far-off mining site, she is left to spend more time on her own, but she begins to question whether she is really alone. After her dog runs away, the history of the little shack she calls home begins to come alive. Plains Empty is a story about a young woman surviving in a harsh and alien environment, where her only company is the ghost of a little girl and a grumpy old man across the plains. Written and directed by Beck Cole. Stars Ngaire Pigram, Gerard Kennedy, Kerry Naylon, Josef Ber and Tina Bursill. -- DVD back cover.
