Architecture in detail (London, England)
Summary Unity Temple is arguably Wright's greatest public building. Still in immaculate condition today, it can be understood both as a synthesis of his principles of space and form, and as the culmination of his development as a designer.
Ordered on a rigorous system of proportion, Unity Temple is determined on both exterior and interior by the measurements of the central interior sanctuary space. The complexity of geometries and interlocking spaces and forms is outstanding, and invites the viewer to see the act of building as sacred, and buildings as sacred places.
