Summary Electronic reproduction of mercantile papers and other manuscript material from the Massachusetts Historical Society. The materials include the account books of Thomas Amory, offering a glimpse into the activities of an 18th-century American merchant and information on popular consumption in and around Boston. A bill of lading book details the goods shipped by John Dolbeare, a Boston pewterer, as well as the destinations and recipients of the goods. These papers can be usefully compared with similar material from the American Antiquarian Society also reproduced in the Global Commodities resource.
