Summary Traces the lives of 7 families in the Melbourne suburb of Fitzroy. Each family has a child who will turn 10 in the year 2000. Fitzroy was chosen because of its ethnic diversity. The film explores the issues of cultural identity and how each child's future will be shaped by his or her present life, the parents' expectations for their child's future and the different roles and pressures within the family unit.
