Summary This is a fictional film based on a true story, which reflects on the hopeless conditions of the faceless thousands who are seeking refuge. It follows two boys, Jamal, 16 and his older cousin, Enayat, on a perilous overland journey from an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan to seek economic security in the West. Beginning in Pakistan, they travelled through Iran, Turkey, Italy, France and to their destination, London. The film is shot in documentary style, with a digital camera strapped to the back of cinematographer Marcel Zyskind. It is made as a tribute to the nearly one million refugees a year, who willingly undertake enormous risks to seek a better life.
