Summary Before World War II one third of the population of Poland was Jewish, after it there were barely a few hundred to be counted. Many Jews survived by assuming a Catholic identity even to this day, as anti-Semitism continued in various forms after the end of the war. This video recounts the experiences of several people in Warsaw who have discovered or suspected that they were Jewish babies taken in by sympathetic non-Jewish Polish families. The growth of a contemporary Polish-Jewish identity appears in the form of groups such as the Polish Union of Jewish Students and the new Jewish synagogue run by an American-Jewish rabbi.
