Summary Masterpiece of Da Vinci is restored with the assistance of the Centre for Research and Restoration of Museums of France. The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne becomes the heart of an exhibition bringing together for the first time all documents linked to this panel. The beginning of the slow and complex genesis are dated back to 1501. Da Vinci's refinement of this ambitious composition, was left unfinished with his death in 1519. Compositional sketches, preparatory drawings, studies of landscape and the magnificent cartoon of the National Gallery in London, presented beside the table since the death of Leonard, illustrate, among other things, this long meditation and reflect different solutions contemplated by the master. The presentation of these other paintings of the artist, show how the Sainte Anne is the true culmination of many and diverse research on the artist's nature and art.
