Title from Documents Collection list (viewed on June 2, 2012)
Electronic reproduction of a collection of newspapers and periodicals published by the alternative and underground press in the United States and Britain during the 1960s and 1970s. The publications vary in their politics, audience and local interests, but they share a radical, anti-establishment or counterculture focus. Many are concerned with the specific issues of these pivotal decades, such as the Vietnam conflict, women's rights, sexual liberation and civil rights, but also include general interest articles on literature, drama and music. For coverage of specific news events of the period, the best sources are the Los Angeles free press, Berkeley barb, Berkeley tribe, and Michigan free press, which follow the style of more standard newspaper journalism.
