Summary Electronic reproduction of materials from the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Includes papers from the manuscript collection of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, describing the evolution of the port from 1755 to 1960. For much of this period Mersey was Britain's most important dock, playing a central role in the trades for cotton, sugar and wheat, as well as the slave trade. The collection also includes a set of Bills of Entry for the key British ports of Liverpool, London, Glasgow, Hull and Bristol; drawings of the Liverpool docks; Liverpool dock accounts; photographs of the docks in action; and records for the Sugar Associations of Lancashire and London, the Liverpool Corn Trade Association, and the American Cotton Import Committee.
