Summary This is a dramatisation of the life of student leader, Tsietsi Mashinini. It is about apartheid and the student anti-apartheid movements, in South Africa. It is also about Mashinini's personal life, and his meeting with director, Portia Rankoane, how it began when she was twelve and growing up in Soweto. Presents also Mashinini's family background and student life; as well as, his role as a revolutionary, in the public eye. This film is in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto uprisings, when South Africa's black students rose up, under the leadership of Tsietsi Mashinini, and challenged the White Apartheid Government. Includes archival footage of interviews with Mashinini, August 1976, and close members of his family.
