Summary Agnes Abbott is an Eastern Arrente woman who has witnessed the transformation of her Central Australian homeland - from her early days working in the cattle industry, to seeing the arrival of missionaries and the damage caused by the introduction of alcohol. Her determination to care for her community has seen Agnes at the forefront of initiatives to drive out alcohol and protect women and children from domestic violence. Agnes continues to play a leading role in community life, teaching her grandchildren and other young women the dances of their ancestors.
