The Australian Thesaurus of Education Descriptors (ATED) is a reference source on Australian terminology in the area of education. ATED is used to index the Australian Education Index, Education Research Theses, Database of Research on International Education, Blended, Online Learning and Distance Education research bank, Indigenous Education Research Database. The ACER library catalogue can also be used to consult these databases. The Thesaurus can be used to index documents, in print or electronic format, and web sites. It can also be used to organise reading lists and bibliographies. It is revised to reflect societal changes in the education field. Features alphabetically listed descriptors with links to broader, narrower and related terms. New descriptors reflect trends and emerging areas of interest in education literature.

Media Scan is a bibliographic database featuring articles indexed from daily newspapers, and is specifically designed for students and researchers in Australian Secondary schools, TAFE Institutes and Universities. Media Scan has been indexing newspapers since September 1991. Each article is allocated subject headings, but it was not until the start of 1996, that the articles were given SCIS Subject Headings.
