Summary This is the first book of its kind to provide an accessible and comprehensive introduction to the new and rapidly-expanding field of corpus-based research into learner language. Part I provides the reader with an overview of the field, explaining its links with corpus and applied linguistics, second language acquisition and ELT. It also reviews the available software tools for analyzing learner language and contains useful examples of how they can be used. Part II contains case studies in which computer learner corpora are analyzed, and Part III shows how the studies can help improve pedagogical tools for the classroom.
