Summary A seven episode programme which gives footage of criminal cases and Victoria Police officers, as they handle the cases from beginning to end. Features the inside working of the judicial process, from Victoria Police headquarters to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court, capturing the emotions of those involved, from perpetrators and frontline police officers, to the magistrates, prosecutors and lawyers who preside over the courts. The programme gives ordinary Australians a look at a different side of two national institutions, the police and the courts, as dramatic stories of criminal activities, drug raids and homicide investigations unfold, every week. Shows also how the modern court reaches out beyond punitive measures to help defendants access the rehabilitation programmes which reduce the risk of re-offending, and improve community safety.
