Notes Marilyn Kino ( nee Sterling )to whom the poem is dedicated worked for her father, Julian Sterling in his Southern Cross Galleries at the Southern Cross Hotel in Bourke Street,Melbourne, during the mid 1960's and 1970's. Her father was also partner with Sweeney Reed in Sweeney Reed Gallery. As noted by Shelton Leas' biographer Diana Georgeff (Delinquent Angel,Random House,2007 pp.200-202), Lea formed a close bohemian circle with Reed, poet Russel Deeble and Elenberg, and often visited the centrally located city gallery . All were regular visitors to both galleries and Marilyn remembers Lea arriving one day in 1970 and presenting her with this copy of Chrysalis with a personalised poem about her at work at Southern Cross Galleries.
