Includes an initial imprimatur leaf by the Council of the Royal Society of London, dated "Novem. 23. 1664."
The Micrographia of Robert Hooke was one of the most spectacular works published by the Royal Society in the seventeenth century.

Baillieu Library SpC/BX copy, acquired from a local source in 1920, had its binding repaired and lost all indications of provenance except a pencil note in William Story's hand recording the absence of one plate from the collation. The volume reached Victoria, therefore, a century and a half ago. Keynes 6; Wing H2620.
